Why not? They save energy and last longer. And if properly recycled they don't harm the environment. Individually there isn't enough mercury in one to be harmful if broken in a household environment.
How odd that there are those who somehow believe that using a certain type of light bulb is a ';Constitutional freedom'; being stolen from them.
