Does the rear fog lamp lense have to be red or can it be clear with a red bulb?

I have a r reg escort 1.6 16v and i am getting a new smooth boot for it

but it has no place in it for the rear fog light, if i converted the drivers

side reverse light to be used as the fog light would i be able to just use

a red bulb with the clear reverse Lens or would the reverse Lens have to be red aswell?Does the rear fog lamp lense have to be red or can it be clear with a red bulb?
Yes the lens has to be red and properly standardised for road legal useDoes the rear fog lamp lense have to be red or can it be clear with a red bulb?
Whats the point?

Soon as you start 'converting ' you make it illegal re Police/Insurance because its a modification you will have forgotten to inform them about.

When you in a few years from now, have your kids wiped out cos the ******** in front was not displaying proper lights, you might be of a different opinion.

FFS.
If you have a 21w red bulb in a clear lamp fitted in the centre or o/s of vehicle and have a warning lamp to show that it's working, should be ok..
The light needs to be red, not the lens.
It would have to be a red lens.
I'm pretty sure you need the lens to pass the MOT.
red lens and the fog bulb is brighter than the rear lamp bulbs
