Fluorescents are the worst lights of all. You do not want them. For one they are the worst lights in homes as they are harsh and unflattering. But they also have toxic mercury in them. And they make everything and everyone look yellow. Not a flattering color. The best and most like sunlight are halogens and they all have dimmers which saves energy. The next best choice are the Reveal series incandescents. They again are most like natural light and you can add dimmers to cut down on light when you don't need it bright and create ambience. There is nothing toxic about either of these choices. Most people just don't understand the use of dimmers and how they cut down on energy and increase the life of light bulbs. Please don't add to our toxic waste by choosing fluorescents.What light bulb should I buy if I want a powerful and very clear (white) light?
Go green! get a CFL light bulb. Best bet is to go with LED bulbs as they contain no mercury, last longer. However LEDs may be less powerful, and are expensive, $60 for one.
